Preserve Profile
A growing network of hiking trails intersects the Round the Mountain Trail in numerous locations, stretching from the north side of Mount Pleasant, over Spruce and Ragged Mountains, to Bald Mountain. Most of the trails are part of the Georges Highland Path (GHP), a trail system maintained by our partner organization Georges River Land Trust, on Coastal Mountains Land Trust preserve and conservation easement land. The Georges Highland Path trails, as well as the Hosmer Brook and Bald Mountain trails (pages 26–27 in the Trail Guide), are for foot traffic only. They are rocky, rooty, and steep. There are dozens of combination hikes that can be done. A few favorites include the short Spruce Mountain trail from the Rt 17 trailhead, Little Ragged from the Bald Mountain trailhead, Ragged Mountain ridge loop from Thorndike Brook, and the 10 mi one-way hike from Mount Pleasant Rd to the top of Bald Mountain.
