Esprit de corps

As you can imagine, taking care of 13,000 acres and 55+ miles of trails, strains the resources of our staff, who are only able to accomplish all that needs to be done with the help of our amazing volunteers.

We also rely upon a special group who helps out wherever they are needed and work for very little pay.

We are delighted to introduce the dedicated group that promotes the esprit de corps of Coastal Mountains Land Trust:

Astrid

JOB TITLE: Dog of the Month…Every Month

Astrid trains all new Land Trust puppies on the ins and outs of the office, particularly the location of the treats drawer. You can find her flopped on her back awaiting a belly rub, sunbathing on the deck, or her favorite activity: testing out new trails.

Fern

JOB TITLE: Land Trust Lunch Thief First Class

Free spirited with a sleek coat that is luxurious to pet, Fern is a black lab mix with a just a hint of coon hound. Her appetite for adventure is only matched by her love of delectable and unattended staff lunches. Known for her vocal sounds and curly tail, she enjoys afternoon sun-napping and hiking at her favorite preserve, Hatchet Mountain. She takes treats very, very gently.

Stella

JOB TITLE: Land Protection Assistant/Site Visit Specialist

Stella works part-time at the Land Trust, as she needs to make sure she has enough time in her day to lie in the grass, watch squirrels, and keep track of the goings-on in her neighborhood. When she’s not fetching smiles in the office, she’s accompanying her mom on site visits, performing quality control on every stick, leaf, and patch of sunlight she finds.

Troubadour

JOB TITLE: Chief Fluff Officer

“Tru,” a golden-hearted pup, brings pawsitive energy to Coastal Mountains Land Trust. While he’s often seen sleeping on his back with feet in the air – or slip sliding across the office floor – he’s always prepared to keep spirits high, making sure everyone pawses for a break (or treat) when needed. Tru joined the office dog team in 2024 and has been on a mission to promote joy ever since.

Winter Otter (look at that face!)

JOB TITLE: Front of House Maitre d

Otter is part Snuffleupagus, part Golden Doodle, and has spent his entire puppyhood at our office. He enjoys swimming with a pool noodle tucked under his belly for added buoyancy, greeting visitors, playing possum when he is being called, and lining up for treats. He is an excellent sitter.
